Jerry received his BS in Geology from Texas A&M in 1980. As a member of the Corps of Cadets Company F2 from 1975-79, he was 1st Sergeant and Commanding Officer. Company F2 won the George F. Moore Award for outstanding company of the Corps in 1978 and 1979. Jerry was named Distinguished Military Student and was a member of the Ross Volunteers from 1977-79. Upon graduation, he received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Jerry was a geologist for Gulf Oil from 1980-82 and Transamerican from 1982-87. From 1987-2001, he was partner and vice president of geology for Michael Petroleum. Since 2001, Jerry has been a partner, a board member and the vice president of geology of Laredo Energy.

Jerry was a school board member for the Salem Lutheran School from 1997-2002, including chair from 2001-02 and a school board member of Concordia Lutheran High School 2004-07. From 2008-11, he served on the Echo Foundation, the charity board for Tomball Hospital. From 2004 to 2010, Jerry was an elder at his church, Salem Lutheran Church. He is a member of the 12th Man Foundation Houston Champions Council. He has two brothers who also graduated from Texas A&M, Damon Holditch ’65 and Steve Holditch ’69, and a sister, Diane Barber. Jerry and his wife, Cindy, have two children: Kendall, a photography student at the Art Institute in Denver, Colo. and Harrison, a junior at the University of Alabama.
