Current Projects - Anderson Track and Field Renovation
When Byrne lured Pat Henry from the tradition-rich LSU track program-where
Henry won 27 team NCAA national titles in 17 years-Texas A&M made
a major commitment to competing on a national level in track and field.
Now, the commitment must continue in terms of renovating the Anderson
Track & Field Complex, which has undergone very few enhancements and
upgrades since it was first opened in 1986. The master plan for the track
and field facility also includes the construction of a new weight room
and training facility. Elite track and field programs often attract many
world-class, dual-sport athletes to a college campus, meaning that a financial
gift to track and field could not only draw sprinters, hurdlers, distance
runners and throwers to A&M, but could also benefit the Aggies' football,
basketball and other sports teams.
