Championship Vision - Phase II Overview

The 12th Man Foundation's Major Gifts group is currently engaged in Phase II of the Championship Vision capital campaign. It is a $60 million endeavor that is focused on three high-priority projects: the McFerrin Athletic Center - football indoor facility and multipurpose facility, and the Cox-McFerrin Center for Aggie Basketball. Kay '02 and Jerry Cox '72, of Houston, serve as co-chairs of the campaign.

"This is an extension of the fundamental campaign, but these three projects are most time-sensitive. We have momentum and have identified critical needs, and we now are experiencing unparalleled success with the leadership in place. Now, we need to fuel the fire with this last bit of tangible facilities improvements that are vital for us to compete at the highest level year after year," said Cox.

Phase II follows the successful completion of the school's first capital campaign in support of athletics. Unveiled in March of 2000, the $50 million fundraising effort was completed in April 2005. The centerpiece of Phase I was the Bright Football Complex and the Alice and Erle Nye '59 Academic Center. For a list of all projects accomplished by our donors in Phase I, click here.

Now entering the second year of the Phase II campaign, the successful completion of the three high-priority projects are critical to the foundation of Texas A&M athletics for generations to come.

We also believe that Aggies understand the importance of individual commitment to a group effort better than any other student body or fan base in the nation. It is, after all, the individual commitment of A&M's enthusiastic followers that have given Kyle Field its mystique and made Texas A&M fans nationally known as some of the loudest and proudest in all of sports. The words first written in 1925 still hold true today: "There's a spirit can ne'er be told. It's the spirit of Aggieland."
That spirit and individual sense of responsibility is also why Phase I of The Championship Vision met its goals and why 12th Man Foundation and athletic department officials are confident that the "Building Champions" objectives will become a reality. With over two-thirds of the $60 million already in place, Phase II is off to a remarkable start. However, for the successful completion of the three Phase II projects, it ultimately depends on the individual commitment of A&M donors and fans.
Texas A&M is on the verge of unprecedented greatness. We are intent on "Building Champions" and celebrating championships. This will happen with the generosity of donors and a new commitment level from the A&M former students and fans that now have the opportunity to invest in the 'building of champions.'
Since E. King Gill first began the tradition of the 12th Man in 1922, Aggie fans have taken a stand for their team. We at the 12th Man Foundation believe are committed to first-class facilities that all Aggies can be proud of and will stand the test of time. With the addition of the McFerrin Athletic Center and the Cox-McFerrin Center for Aggie Basketball, Texas A&M will be positioned as a perennial Top 25 program far into the future.
